In addition, the Executive Director of PAAIA serves as an Ex Officio Director of IAPAC, with voting powers equal to those of the other directors.

IAPAC is a registered bipartisan political action committee that contributes to candidates for public office who are attuned to the domestic concerns of Iranian Americans.  Congressional candidates supported by IAPAC have an exceptional track record on domestic issues of importance to the Iranian American community, have articulated a readiness to engage and work with Iranian Americans, or are in a position to have influence over legislative issues of concern to the community. Iranian American candidates supported by IAPAC have demonstrated their commitment to public service, are running viable campaigns, and embrace their heritage. Foreign policy issues are not taken into consideration for supporting or opposing a particular candidate.

Political action committees are an important part of the American political process. As a critical tool in PAAIA’s advocacy efforts, IAPAC contributions are a means of access to discuss policy positions and/or educate our elected officials, assuring that our message is heard on Capitol Hill, and a way to encourage increased community participation.

During the 2012 election cycle, IAPAC supported the campaigns of a bi-partisan group of fifteen members of Congress and four congressional party committees.  IAPAC also supported and publicized the campaigns of nine Iranian American candidates running for state or local public office.  IAPAC contributed and helped raise more than $700,000 for its endorsed candidates during the 2012 election cycle.
