PAAIA Seeks Office and Accounts Manager 

The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) is seeking an office manager to be responsible for all administrative tasks for the organization. Responsibilities include handling all cash and budgetary issues, developing newsletter, assisting with updating website, proofreading articles, and general administrative functions. The ideal candidate must have fluency in QuickBooks, previous accounting/book-keeping background, expertise in using Microsoft Office suite applications, and good command of English. PAAIA Seeks Legislative Assistant

The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) is seeking a Legislative Assistant to work within our Government Affairs and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C.

Job Responsibilities:

The individual, working under the direction of the Director of Government Affairs & Policy, will be responsible for managing PAAIA's legislative activities. This includes reaching out to congressional offices and providing information on PAAIA, increasing PAAIA's presence on Capitol Hill, tracking bills and issues related to the Iranian American community, conducting research on public policy programs and related activities, attending congressional hearings, meeting with congressional staff, preparing written reports, and working closely with PAAIA’s connected political action committee, the IAPAC.  

Qualifications:

Successful candidate must possess knowledge of and familiarity with the legislative process, strong writing, research, and organizational skills, and able to handle a full range of responsibilities. The candidate must be able to form and maintain strong working relationships with legislative counterparts, work independently, exercise good judgment, and display personal initiative in all areas assigned.  Capitol Hill experience is strongly desired.  Educational concentration in Public Affairs, Political Science, Communications, or a related field is required.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY WITH PAAIA

The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA DC) offers both fall and spring semester internship opportunities to graduate, college and university students to work in our Washington, D.C. office.

The best-suited individuals will be students of political science, public policy, history, economics and journalism. Excellent written and oral communication skills and computer fluency (mainly MS Office and Windows OS applications) are necessary. Persian fluency is not required but considered an advantage in selection of the successful applicant(s).

Interns work on various projects and assignments. Duties include but are not limited to research on public policy programs and related activities, assisting with planning of events, program implementation, logistical support for staff activities, and other administrative tasks.

PAAIA accepts interns throughout the year and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
