Immigration
Iranian Americans continue to have many close family members and friends living in Iran. Therefore, U.S. immigration policies relating to visa issuance and entry requirements for Iranians directly impact the Iranian American community. In order to facilitate family visitation and reunification, PAAIA is expected to support easing unreasonable and unnecessarily burdensome visa restrictions for Iranians to the extent that doing so does not pose a threat to the safety and national security of the United States. More broadly, PAAIA is expected to support criteria for visa issuance and entry requirements that are necessary to effectively protect the safety and national security of the U.S. without subjecting all Iranians to greater scrutiny strictly on the basis of their nationality.
