October 18, 2012, Washington, D.C. - The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) is pleased to announce that Nellie Kargar and Alen Takhsh have been selected as the new co-chairs of the NexGen National Organizing Committee (NOC). Nellie and Alen will be replacing Avid Boustani and Amir Bagherpour, who have served as the NOC's co-chairs since its inception two years ago.
Over the past two years, under Avid and Amir's leadership, NexGen has grown from an idea generated by Dr. Firouz Naderi to a productive and active component of PAAIA. During their tenure, Avid and Amir provided thoughtful and direct guidance to their peers, collaborated with the PAAIA board of directors to define NexGen programs, and have worked actively with NOC members to implement these programs. They offered thoughtful recommendations to the PAAIA board and management on how best to enhance NexGen offerings and were active participants in organizational meetings. They have done much to ensure the success of NexGen and we are thankful for their commitment and service.
On November 1, 2012, Avid and Amir will pass the NOC leadership baton to Nellie and Alen. In addition to being active members of the NOC for the past couple of years, both Nellie and Alen have been spearheading NexGen programs and were most recently our gala's entertaining and stellar masters of ceremony. In her own words, Nellie hopes to lead NexGen to become "the most recognized means of networking amongst young Iranian American professionals in the United States and then the world.” Alen's aspirations for NexGen include "engaging and educating other communities about the beauty of our Persian heritage and providing the next generation with broad enough shoulders to stand on and be proud.”
Over the next couple of months, Nellie and Alen, along with Avid and Amir, will ensure that the new NOC board is selected and ready to assume responsibility for NexGen activities over the next couple of years. They will work closely with the NOC to ensure the successful implementation of NexGen's programs.
PAAIA extends its most heartfelt thanks to Avid and Amir for their selfless commitment to PAAIA and NexGen and welcomes Nellie and Alen as the new co-chairs of the NOC.
