Noor Iranian Film Festival Launches Indiegogo Campaign

September 5, 2014, Washington, D.C. – Noor Iranian Film Festival (NIFF) has recently launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds in order to make the festival self-sustaining.

NIFF was created with the aim of shedding noor, or light, on Iranian culture and heritage through the medium of cinema. Given the troubling political climate currently surrounding Iran, the festival sees itself as an opportunity to allow filmmakers to engage in dialogue on a global scale, express themselves, and to build a community of Iranians and non-Iranians who will help preserve and promote the beauty and essence of Iranian culture –  past and present. The festival also cultivates and promotes Iranian American talent in Hollywood.

The festival is now in its seventh year and has thus far been personally funded and operated by co-founder Siamak Ghahramani. Money raised from the Indiegogo campaign will go towards adding new personnel to the NIFF team, marketing and promotions to reach a broader audience, including the non-Iranian community, and operating and logistical necessities.

The 2014 Noor Iranian Film Festival will be held in Los Angeles Oct. 17-22. All films in the festival have been made by an Iranian, are about Iran, and/or have Iranians in the cast/crew. The list of the 2014 festival films has already been announced and can be viewed here.

PAAIA has worked with NIFF in the past in order to take its festival on tour to different cities in the United States.
