PAAIA Releases Ad in Support of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Featuring Jewish Iranian American scholar Houman Sarshar PhD

September 14, 2015, Washington, D.C. – In acknowledgement of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) released an advertisement in support of the Iran Nuclear agreement, featuring Jewish Iranian American scholar Houman Sarshar, Ph.D. 

With an eye on the need to move beyond the divisive political rhetoric surrounding the international agreement over Iran’s Nuclear program, PAAIA is releasing its latest of a series of advertisement spots. “Cyrus the Great” lends support to President Obama’s diplomatic initiative and sheds light on the rich Judeo-Iranian tradition, which finds its roots in the biblical story of Cyrus the Great of Persia, today known as Iran.  

As part of PAAIA’s national communications campaign, the latest video, “Cyrus the Great,” showcases Dr. Houman Sarshar talking about the history of Jews in Iran.  This history dates back to biblical times, but Iran continues to be home to the largest Jewish community in the Middle East outside of Israel.

PAAIA takes this opportunity to lead a call for civility in our national political discourse, asking for distinctions to be made between people, nationalities, ethnicities, and the ruling politics of the day.  This is what America stands for, and why we, as an immigrant group, are proud to call ourselves Americans.
