Is the Florida Travel Law Valid?
Future of Iranian American owned travel agencies in Florida may be in Jeopardy
Washington, D.C., July 30, 2008 – The future livelihood of a number of Florida based Iranian American travel businesses is in jeopardy due to a new state law that significantly increases registration fees, security bonds, and potential penalties imposed on sellers of travel for selling trips to any nation that is on the Department of State’s list of state sponsors of terror, namely Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Syria and Sudan.

The Iranian American Bar Association (IABA) has released a primer on how current regulations by the Office of Foreign Assets control (OFAC) impact activities between U.S. citizens and residents with Iran, with a focus on the provision of humanitarian assistance in Iran by U.S. citizens or residents.

Democratic Senators Offer Support for US Interest Section in Iran

Washington, D.C. – In response to recent revelations that the Bush Administration is considering the establishment of a U.S. Interest Section in Iran, a group of Democratic senators led by John Kerry sent a letter on July 24, 2008 to the President to offer congressional support for a limited diplomatic presence in the country.
