Intern Opportunities with Darius Shahinfar
The campaign is accepting applicants for its summer internship program. Shahinfar is running for Congress as a Democrat in Upstate New York’s 21st Congressional District. As a proud first generation Iranian American, Shahinfar knowsfirst hand what America means to people around our globe. Hebelieves in an America that is able to both defend our security and our Constitution at the same time, an America that is safe and strong at home and respected abroad. "I am humbled by how our campaign has been so warmly received nationally and I invite Iranian American students to participate as volunteers and interns in our campaign,” said Shahinfar. “This opportunity allows students to play a constructive role in this election and get hands on experience on the strategies, policies, and procedures followed in a congressional campaign.” Interns and volunteers work on a variety of projects and assignments. Internship positions include: - Volunteer Coordinator: Works closely with the field team to manage the many volunteers, including assigning them events to attend, helping organize call programs, and keeping track of the volunteer schedule. Full-time and part-time internships are available. Applications from undergraduate and graduate students with strong academic backgrounds and an interest in public service are welcomed. Eligible applicants must be able to work independently as well as respond to direction. Excellent written and communication skills and computer fluency (mainly MS Office and Windows OS applications) is necessary. Working knowledge of the electoral process is not required but considered an advantage in selection of the successful applicant(s).
The campaign can also offer interns a place to live in Albany for as long as they are on staff and will be willing to provide college credit or references at the end of a successful internship.
