The Freedom Sculpture – Freedom, A Shared Dream
FreedomSculpture.org
What is the Freedom Sculpture?
A public crowd-supported monument to cultural diversity and inclusiveness to be officially gifted to the City of Los Angeles, on July 4th, 2017.
Background:
Over the past 4 years, the Farhang Foundation, a non-political, non-religious, non-profit cultural organization, has commissioned, secured city authorization, and raised enough money to start fabrication of The Freedom Sculpture – Freedom, a Shared Dream. The sculpture is a permanent public monument celebrating individual freedoms, religious diversity and multicultural inclusiveness – the humanitarian ideals enshrined by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution of the United States.
Designed by award winning architect Cecil Balmond , the Freedom Sculpture is themed on the Cyrus Cylinder from 2,500 years ago, widely considered to be the first declaration of human rights, whereby Cyrus the Great Persian King acknowledged and granted these same humanitarian rights to all within his vast and culturally diverse empire.
Once built, the Freedom Sculpture will be officially gifted to the city of Los Angeles to stand as the “Statue of Liberty” for the West Coast — a permanent iconic reminder that freedom, diversity and inclusiveness are the universally shared humanitarian values that have brought so much to America and are the pillars of this great nation.
