The Pezeshkan Family Capitol Hill Internship Program (CHIP) supports Iranian American students and recent graduates as they learn about the legislative process by interning with a Member of Congress.
CHIP provides a hands-on introduction to public service, combining Congressional internship placements with mentorship from Iranian American professionals working in government and policy. Interns gain exposure to real legislative work, develop professional skills, and leave with a deeper understanding of civic engagement and advocacy.
Intern with a U.S. Senator or Representative in Washington, D.C. while receiving mentorship and a stipend from PAAIA. Interns participate in Congressional office activities, attend hearings, and build experience in federal policymaking.
Internships are available during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Iranian American high school graduates, college students, and recent college graduates. Ideal candidates are pursuing studies in political science, public policy, history, economics, or journalism — though all majors with a strong interest in civic leadership are welcome.
CHIP alumni have launched careers on Capitol Hill, in law, and across federal government agencies.
Receive guidance from Iranian American policy professionals, with support on both professional and personal development.
Work in the center of American democracy, gaining first-hand experience in how policy is created and decisions are made.
