The NexGen Organizing Committee joins PAAIA in celebrating Nowruz by conveying their thoughts on the importance of Nowruz and one of our culture’s most revered, iconic items, the Cyrus Cylinder.
President Barack Obama extended his warm wishes for a Happy Nowruz to the Iranian American community and the people of Iran. In addition to mentioning the cultural significance of Nowruz, the president spoke about his wishes for improved relationships between the two countries. He spoke of the need for the Iranian government to live up to its international obligations, and emphasized his hope that it will do so, noting that “all nations would benefit from the talent and creativity of the Iranian people.”
